The Miracle Within the Home: The Journey of Gharsabha
When Comfort Existed, but Peace Was Missing
In recent times, the world advanced rapidly in technology, yet peace within the home quietly faded. Families lived under one roof but grew emotionally distant. Work-related stress followed people home, conversations turned into complaints, and children, despite having every comfort, felt restless and disengaged. Homes that were meant to nurture love and harmony increasingly became spaces of silence, tension, or conflict.
Then came the year 2020. The global outbreak of the Coronavirus brought fear, uncertainty, and isolation into every household. Life paused, routines collapsed, and the world stood still. Yet history reminds us that the darkest moments often prepare the ground for the greatest transformations.
A Spiritual Awakening Begins: March 12, 2020
On March 12, 2020, at exactly 9:00 PM, a quiet yet powerful spiritual awakening began—not in temples or public halls, but within the home itself. This marked the birth of Gharsabha, a daily spiritual gathering inspired by Pujya Sadguru Swami Shri Nityaswarupdasji.
At a time when hope was fading, Swami Shri Nityaswarupdasji offered a simple yet profound vision: to transform the home into a place of devotion, dialogue, and inner strength. What began as a response to the pandemic soon became a movement of renewal. Families began sitting together, listening together, and growing together. Homes once troubled by conflict experienced peace; strained relationships were restored, and many found the strength to overcome addictions and negative habits.
Unbroken Devotion for Five Years
For the past five consecutive years, Pujya Sadguru Swami Shri Nityaswarupdasji has conducted Gharsabha every single day from 9:00 to 10:30 PM, without missing a single day. What began as a humble daily spiritual gathering has become a living example of unwavering commitment, discipline, and devotion.
Gharsabha is being broadcast over Aastha TV, Lakshya TV, Kartavya TV, Kalyan TV, Sardhar Katha YouTube, the Gharsabha YouTube Channel, and multiple other digital platforms, connecting with over 200 million+ online viewers daily worldwide. Through television, online streaming, and social media, the message of Gharsabha reaches millions of households every day, making it one of the most widely accessed daily spiritual gatherings.
A Truly Global Presence
Gharsabha has been conducted across more than 15 countries, uniting families beyond borders. These gatherings have taken place in India, the United Arab Emirates, Kenya (Nairobi), Uganda, Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States of America, among numerous other countries, reflecting a truly global spiritual journey.
In the United States alone, Gharsabha has reached more than 25 states and more than 50 cities, bringing together devotees from diverse backgrounds under one shared spiritual roof. Each location reflects the same spirit, families sitting together at the same hour, listening to uplifting wisdom, and transforming their homes into spaces of peace and purpose.
This uninterrupted daily continuity over five years, combined with extensive global travel, stands as a rare and powerful testament to the vision of Gharsabha: consistency creates transformation, and when spirituality becomes part of daily life, it reshapes families, communities, and generations.

From a Humble Beginning to a Global Movement
Gharsabha grew steadily, guided by faith and consistency:
- June 22, 2020 — The 100th Gharsabha was celebrated at Tirth Dham Sardhar, marking a strong foundation.
- The journey continued through the 200th, 300th, and 400th milestones, reinforcing values of self-discipline and service.
- August 10, 2021 — The 500th Gharsabha, carrying a clear message: live a life that supports and uplifts others.
- December 31, 2022 — Gharsabha reached its 1000th day in Nairobi, Kenya, affirming its global presence.
- July 2023 — The 1200th gathering in Toronto, Canada.
- May 2024 — The 1500th milestone in Regina, Canada.
- August 21, 2024 — The 1600th Gharsabha, a remarkable achievement reflecting unwavering dedication and collective faith.
- October 3, 2025 — The 2000th Gharsabha, celebrated in Jagannath Puri, one of the four principal Hindu pilgrimage sites.
What began as a small daily effort quietly evolved into a worldwide spiritual movement, one day at a time.
The Master Key to Life’s Challenges
Swami Shri Nityaswarupdasji often reminds us, “There is no lock in the world without a key.” Many struggles persist not because solutions don’t exist, but because the right key is missing.
Gharsabha serves as that key. Through spiritual discourse (Katha), practical wisdom, and timeless values, it unlocks clarity in confusion and strength in adversity. It is not merely a prayer session; it is a movement (Andolan) for positive, value-based living. Gharsabha nurtures moral foundations in children, direction and purpose in youth, and peace and reassurance for elders.
A Living Legacy of Hope
Today, Gharsabha stands as a Mahayajna – a collective offering for the welfare of humanity. It demonstrates that even in an age dominated by technology, ancient spiritual wisdom remains deeply relevant.
From that first evening in March 2020 to the present day, Gharsabha has proven a simple truth: when families come together to listen to uplifting words, the home transforms into a place of harmony and joy. Gharsabha is not just a daily gathering, it is the heartbeat of a happy, spiritually enriched family.

Moral of never selling food or knowledge
Feeding and Serving Devotees
Lord Shree Swaminarayan, in Shikshapatri Shlok 131, states:
“भगवन्मन्दिरं प्राप्तो योऽन्नार्थी कोऽपि मानवः ।
आदरात्स तु सम्भाव्यो दानेनान्नस्य शक्तितः ।। १३१।।”
Meaning: Any person who comes to the temple of Bhagwan seeking food shall be provided food according to one’s capacity and treated with respect.
This teaching is deeply reflected in Pujya Swamishree’s life. His guiding principle is:
“In my lifetime, I will never sell food or knowledge.”
Recognizing that people come from varying financial backgrounds, Swamishree ensures that everyone receives healthy, pure meals and has the opportunity to perform darshan of the Lord. With over 1,200 students receiving residential and meal facilities, he considers it a great fortune to serve the devotees of Lord Shree Swaminarayan.
Educational Support for College Students
Tirthdham Sardhar currently supports over 1,200 young, talented, and underprivileged students across its Shikharbandh Mandirs, providing facilities that help them thrive academically, socially, and spiritually. Sadguru Swami Shree Nityaswarupdasji
Early Years as a Child
Swami Shree Nityaswarupdasji was born in Velavadar, Gujarat, on July 1, 1966 (Samvat 2022, Ashadh Sud Punam – Guru Purnima), to Nanubhai Gangajibhai Golaviya and Ramaben Nanubhai Golaviya, and was given the name Ghanshyam Nanubhai Golaviya. He grew up with three brothers—Maganbhai, Rameshbhai, and Pravinbhai.
From birth, Swamishree was a devoted follower of the Swaminarayan Sampraday. He regularly visited the temple, engaged in seva, and kept the company of holy saints. From a very young age, he openly expressed his aspiration to become a Swaminarayan sadhu, a resolve that clearly distinguished him from other children. He rarely engaged in playful behavior and instead often spoke profound philosophical thoughts that amazed elders.
It became evident early on that Swamishree possessed a unique spiritual presence and was not an ordinary child. Along with his deep spirituality, he excelled academically and demonstrated remarkable intelligence and insight. Even in his youth, he showed extraordinary perception—for example, by observing crops in a field and accurately predicting the farm’s yield. In this way, young Ghanshyam displayed exceptional talent, wisdom, and spiritual inclination from an early age.

Spiritual Inclination and Renouncing from the World
Entering the Monastic Life and The Early Years as a Saint
Entering the life of asceticism on December 26, 1987 (Samvat 2044, Posh Sud 7), Swamishree accepted Pujya Sadguru Harivallabhdasji Swami as his guru. From the very beginning of his monastic life, he exhibited the noble qualities of a great saint. Recognizing these exceptional virtues in the young Ghanshyambhagat, Pujya Harivallabhdasji Swami was inspired to permit him to receive diksha. Accordingly, on November 20, 1988 (Samvat 2045, Kartik Sud 11), Ghanshyambhagat received diksha from Acharya Shree Ajendraprasadji Maharaj and was bestowed the sacred name Swami Shree Nityaswarupdasji. Following his diksha, he traveled to Jetpur on April 21, 1989 (Samvat 2045, Chaitra Sud 15).
Serving Elder Saints
Pujya Swamishree was blessed with the invaluable opportunity to serve two eminent saints—Pujya Mota Swami Shree Shreeharidasji Swami and Pujya Vasudev Swami. Among them, Pujya Mota Swami Shree Shreeharidasji Swami resided in Jetpur along with the assembly of saints and was widely revered as a living embodiment of sādhutā (saintly virtues). As an elder saint, he had attained an exceptionally high spiritual state and served as a guiding inspiration to all.
During this period, Pujya Mota Swami Shree Shreeharidasji Swami suffered from a severe illness in his leg, which ultimately required surgical amputation. While the operation was underway, the anesthesia unexpectedly wore off and he regained consciousness mid-surgery. Upon realizing that the Swamiji had awakened, the doctors were stunned and immediately expressed concern. Calmly and compassionately, Swamiji reassured them, saying, “Do not worry. Nothing will happen to me. Please continue your work; I will continue my worship.”
Coming to Tirthdham Sardhar
On November 5, 1995 (Samvat 2052, Kartik Sud 13), Pujya Swamishree, along with seven other saints, departed from Jetpur and arrived at Tirthdham Sardhar. Upon their arrival, they possessed nothing but a single murti of the Lord (Thakorji) and an unwavering faith in Bhagwan Swaminarayan.
They took residence on the grounds of the old temple in Sardhar, a modest property measuring only 183 square meters (approximately 20 ft × 30 ft). This sacred land had been originally offered to Lord Swaminarayan during His Gadi-Patabhishek by King Tongaji. From these humble beginnings, Pujya Swamishree laid the spiritual foundation for what would later become the great pilgrimage site of Tirthdham Sardhar.
Establishment as Sadguru (Head Leader)
Pujya Swamishree embodies countless virtues that define a truly faithful and devoted saint. He is endowed with the thirty qualities of a sadhu, which form the hallmark of a true spiritual practitioner. Recognizing these extraordinary qualities of sādhutā in him, over hundreds mumukshus (spiritual aspirants) have approached his feet, seeking guidance on the correct path to attain the Lord.
The status of a Guru or spiritual leader is conferred through recognition by the Acharya, the supreme spiritual head of the Swaminarayan Sampraday. In acknowledgment of his unwavering devotion, exemplary conduct, and spiritual insight, Pujya Swamishree was formally recognized and bestowed with the esteemed title of Sadguru during the Bagasara Mahotsav in 2002.
